The Decision to Study a Degree in Primary School Education

– The decision to study a degree in Primary School Education was an easy choice as it is an exciting opportunity, fulfilling my passion to be a teacher. I have wanted to pursue a teaching career from a very young age, it stemmed from being a sports leader and mentor to the younger children in my primary school. It was also strongly influenced by the birth and development of my younger relatives as the pace and range of their learning has amazed me. Watching them gain language and basic numeracy skills has highlighted to me that teaching is a very important profession and that there isn’t a more rewarding role than seeing a child achieve their full potential…. ;

Big Bird Primary School

– As the morning slowly dawns and the sun begins to beam through the light boxes on the top of the spacious classrooms, the tables and chairs begin to glow. Around the edge of the child’s playground the golden and red leaves begin to whistle in the wind like the sound of a child’s toy, whilst the sound of the crying babies echoes through the grounds of Big Bird Primary School as if it were a stuck record. – It seems so long ago now, since the mischievous days of mid-primary school. Since the days I never did homework, and was ever so surreptitious to avoid getting caught – well trying to anyway. And the days when my little ploys of “forgetting” to have done homework, were discovered in the most humiliating of ways. There was on specific day this happened, I can vividly remember.
