– The History of Nitroglycerine Alfred Nobel was born in Stockholm on October 21, 1833. By the age of 17 he was fluent in Swedish, Russian, French, English and German. Early in his life he had a huge interest in English literature and poetry as well as in chemistry and physics. Alfred’s father disliked his interest in poetry and found his son rather introverted. In order to widen Alfred’s horizons his father sent him to different institutions for further training in chemical engineering. During a two-year period he visited Sweden, Germany, France and the United States….

Acid + Base Salt + Water ————————— In my experiment I am trying to find out how much acid it takes to neutralise a base to form a neutral solution. I will use one molar of Nitric Acid as the acid and one molar of Ammonium Hydroxide as the base. So this will be a 1:1 ratio. – As everyone knows, explosives explode; they require activation energy which sets off the explosion. However, many do not know that explosives are categorized into propellants and high explosives. Propellants burn in a rapid but constant fashion and the projectile is under a steady high pressure, while high explosives change in an irregular pattern and produces a shock that is violent and disruptive (Crystal 428). Ever since the first use of gunpowder, explosives have changed from being simple mixtures of elements that could be ignited into something that had become highly destructive, dangerous, and complex….

– Alfred Nobel, born in 1833, was the inventor of dynamite. He was much more than an inventor, was fluent in several languages, enjoyed poetry and was considered to have radical ideas during his time. He left a lasting legacy by establishing the famous peace prize which is named in his honour. Nobel’s father was an engineer and inventor. He built bridges and in relation to this, he experimented with ways to blast rock. In the year Alfred was born, his father went bankrupt because several barges of building materials went missing….
