Museum Exhibition Proposal With Punch

– Exhibit Overview and Rationale: The “The Myth And The Reality” exhibition is intended for the visitors who are interested in previous historical, religious, human behaviors, mythological material, nature of animals, and the world we live in. Mythical creatures are created by people’s imaginations, hopes, fears, and most passionate dreams. The exhibition I am designing uses a method of comparison, comparing real animals to mythical creatures. The intent is to arouse the imagination of the visitors in his or her personal journey of discovery, connecting with the real world to mythical creatures….

– Western Civilization: A Brief History (Spielvogel, 2001), discusses how ‘The Great Exhibition of 1851 was a symbol of the successes of Great Britain, which had become the World’s first industrial nation and it’s richest.’ Furthermore, a vast tree inside the building provided ‘a visible symbol of how the Industrial Revolution had supposedly achieved human domination over nature.’ Being a professor in Western Civilisation at Pennsylvania State University, Spielvogel is a reliable source. Seeing Art in a Curated Exhibition

– Wilfred Bion (1897-1979), a great British psychoanalyst, formulated the object relations theory, which informs us that through repeated experiences in our environment we form internalized images of objects, and those images would be later on reshaped and transformed by other experiences we may have. In this theory objects are people, or rather our internalized images of the people we have come in contact with in our lives. How we relate to these images, and reshape them to accommodate our shifting perceptions constantly changing the whole, is a demonstration of our tolerance to ambiguity (Greenberg and Mitchell)….

– The Great Exhibition of 1851 sought to provide the world with the hope of a better future. After Europe’s struggle of two decades of political and social upheaval, the Exhibition hoped to show that technology was the key to a better future. The Europeans were excited to display their new innovative technology and show off their progress of industrialization and economic changes. The most popular exhibit was the Crystal Palace; the first monumental structure in Britain that was constructed of uniquely from metal and glass (93)….

– Introduction The IGEHO is an internationally recognized exhibition for hotel, catering and extra-domestic utilization. It is organized by the M. C. H. Swiss exhibition limited at the Exhibition Center Basel, hall 1 and hall 2. This is considered to be the biggest business stage and the most significant trade fair for hotel, restaurant and catering in Switzerland and the neighboring countries.
