The story takes place during a period of time when the girl supposedly gains new maturity, sensitivity, and insight as she develops from a tomboy to a young lady. The focus of the tale is her struggle with a neighborhood antagonist as she describes the events of about a year. At first she speaks in a very self-centered manner and later, relating her final encounter with this rival, she reveals somewhat greater empathy and understanding….

Children Should Not Be Able to Choose to Drop Out of School
– Should children be able to make the choice to drop out of school at such an early and crucial time in their development. There are many reasons why children and teens are required to stay in school until their senior year. Children do not know the importance of an education and are not well rounded enough to get a job that pays above the poverty level. Children during their key years of development are easily influenced and unable to think for them-selves unless taught to do so. This mass amount of uneducated adults would also have a huge effect on the economy do to the large amount of low income families….
The Movie The Hammer
– Before watching the movie the “The Hammer” I didn’t know what to expect. I had never seen a deaf movie before and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to understand the movie completely. Watching the movie wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be, and I enjoyed it. The best part about it was that it’s based on the true story about Matthew “The Hammer” Hamill. The movie starts off by introducing a little boy named Matt. We find out that Matt is completely deaf. His grandfather doesn’t take the new lightly and is slightly in denial on the fact that his grandson is deaf….
