Ethical Dilemma in Dental Setting

– Step 1 In the practices of Karen’s infection control, ethical dilemmas may or may not exist. The first issue Jane has with Karen’s practices, is her unnecessary contact of surfaces with contaminated gloves. Karen thoroughly disinfects the operatory after a patient. However, the chance exists that cross contamination could be possible. Is Karen putting the patient in harm’s way, in her practice of cross-contamination, if she is thoroughly disinfecting the surfaces. The other issue also may or may not be an ethical dilemma….  

Managing the Phobic Dental Patient

– Introduction: We all fear pain and it’s a well-known reason for people to avoid seeing the dentist. Most end up having severe periodontal problems leading to loss of teeth. Approximately 4-11% people suffer from dental phobias and avoid seeking dental care at all costs. Many of them end up in emergency situations that require invasive procedures like extraction or pulpotomy, which further reinforces their phobia. What causes dental phobia. Combined, both doctors have over thirty years experience within the field of Periodontics. The field of Periodontics focuses predominately on the prevention, treatment, and maintenance of periodontal disease. Treatment of periodontal disease, commonly is managed by; the removal of excessive tissue, bone and tissue grafts, and extraction of problem teeth. However, at our practice, we not only manage periodontal disease, but replace missing teeth with dental implants…. ;

Dentures are chosen when the bridges fail in the task of replacing the missing tooth.] Dentures are of different types. It can be made of acrylic, fibreglass, metal or a combination of any of these materials…. ;

The Use of Nanotechnology Within Dental Materials

– In the dental field there has been an ongoing search for a solid method to filling cavities. Dental professionals are searching for a material that will both exhibit a high polish retention, and extreme strength against high stress bearing zones. Before the beginning of nanotechnology being used in dental materials, dentists used a class of composites called microfills. Microfills were used because of their high level of original gloss and their superior ability to retain polish. However, it was missing the other half of the equation and was not regarded as a successful filling material…. ;
